Valentina Shevchenko was initially set to fight for the UFC women’s flyweight title back at UFC 228. However, now it would appear that the fighter will be challenging a different opponent for the belt at UFC 231.
Shevchenko was initially set to face Nicco Montano for the title back at UFC 228. However, Montano was rushed to the hospital the Friday before the fight over kidney issues during her weight cut.
Montano has since been stripped of her title and TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter has since come forward to confirm the longstanding rumor that Valentina Shevchenko will now be facing former UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the title at UFC 231.
The event will take place Dec. 8 in Ontario, Canada. The event will be featured live on pay-per-view for fight fans around the world.
