UFC women’s flyweight champion Nicco Montano was initially set to fight Valentina Shevchenko this weekend. With the fight having been cancelled, a video of Shevchenko having predicted that Montano was going the pull out of the fight has made its way to the internet.
Montano and Shevchenko were originally set to fight in the co-main event of UFC 228. The event is going down this Saturday, Sept. 8, live on pay-per-view.
However, Montano was hospitalized on Friday after suffering kidney issues. Consequently, the night’s co-main event match up has been cancelled.
Speaking to ESPN on Sept. 6., Valentina Shevchenko revealed that she was not yet convinced that the fight would make it to the octagon.
“I will not have any doubts when I see her inside the octagon.” Shevchenko said, when asked if she still doubts that Montano will face her Sept. 8. “This is the one way when I will be like, ‘Sure. It’s happening.'”
