Former boxing champion turned promoter Oscar De La Hoya is now targeting his big debut as the head of a mixed martial arts promotion. That being said, it would appear that the former title holder is having issues pronouncing the name of one of his first event’s legendary headliners.
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz each recently came out of retirement to sign with De La Hoya’s new Golden Boy MMA promotion. The two mixed martial arts veterans are now set to headline a live pay-per-view event for the promotion within The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. on Nov. 24.
During the first press conference for the event, Oscar Da La Hoya repeatedly mispronounced Chuck Liddell’s last name. “The Iceman” appeared to notice the matter, but decided not to point it out.
