Khabib Nurmagomedov earned his UFC lightweight title back at UFC 223. While the Dagestan native earned a lopsided unanimous decision victory, Nurmagomedov has still received criticism over the match up. Now corner cam footage from the fight has been revealed.
Khabib Nurmagomedov and Al Iaquinta battled it out for the vacant UFC lightweight title in the main event of UFC 223. Despite his Sambo wrestling background, Nurmagomedov elected to stand and trade with Al Iaquinta for much more of the fight that many fans expected.
In the end, “The Eagle” earned the title with a decision win, but failed to impress some fans with his striking in the process. In the corner cam footage provided above, AKA head coach Javier Mendez can be seen repeatedly asking Khabib Nurmagomedov to return to the original game plan after the Dagestan native spent much of the previous round trading on the feet with Al Iaquinta.
