Undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is currently set to throw down with UFC megastar Conor McGregor. Now the Dagestan native’s head coach has come forward with a few words on the upcoming match up.
Conor McGregor is a talented knockout artist. After all, the fighter knockout out UFC featherweight legend Jose Aldo in just 13 seconds.
That being said, for “Notorious,” the fight often begins before even entering the octagon. Those scheduled to take on the Ireland native are bombarded with trash-talk heavy mental warfare.
Conor McGregor event threw a hand truck at a UFC charter bus back on April 5 in an alleged attempt to attack Khabib Nurmagomedov for having an altercation with Artem Lobov days earlier. Now AKA head coach Javier Mendez has come forward with his thoughts on how Khabib Nurmagomedov will withstand Conor McGregor’s trash-talk.
Speaking on the Eurobash Podcast, Javier Mendez has come forward with a few words on the matter.
“I’m not going to have to worry about keeping [Nurmagomedov] in check. He is so mentally strong that it’s not going to be an issue at all. Like I said, Conor is going to press his buttons, but it doesn’t matter. I believe Khabib is going to stay cool throughout the whole thing.”
“He’s going to dish it out as good as he gets it, and trust me, Conor’s going to give it to him because Conor is master at playing the game. He’s going to find an equal mental sparring partner as well as physical. This fight is going to be mental and physical, outside the fight and inside the fight, they’re both going to fight for the advantages.”
Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov will face off in the main event of UFC 229. The event will take place Oct. 6, live on pay-per-view.
