UFC women’s flyweight champion Nicco Montano was initially set to defend her title from former women’s bantamweight title challenger Valentina Shevchenko this weekend. Nicco Montano and Valentina Shevchenko were initially set to face off in the co-main event of UFC 228. The exciting fight card will take place Sept. 8, live on pay-per-view.
It was recently reported that Montano was rushed to the hospital on Friday after suffering kidney issues during her weight cut. Consequently, Montano vs. Shevchenko has been cancelled on just one day’s notice.
