UFC women’s strawweight champion Rose Namajunas was one of many in the UFC charter bus attacked by Conor McGregor and a large mass of individuals earlier this year. Now the fighter’s head coach has come forward to reveal that the incident still causes some degree of post traumatic stress for the fighter.
UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has an altercation with SBG Ireland’s Artem Lobov in a hotel earlier this year. In retaliation for the confrontation against his teammate, Conor McGregor led a large entourage backstage of the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on April 5.
Having made their way to a loading dock for the center, the group of people began attacking a UFC charter bus in which Khabib Nurmagomedov and several other individuals preparing for UFC 223 resided. Conor McGregor threw a hand truck at one of the bus’ windows, causing two UFC fighters to be pulled from their upcoming match ups due to injuries.
Among those on the bus was Rose Namajunas. Namajunas was scheduled to defend her title from Joanna Jedrzejczyk in the night’s co-main event. While the champion went on to copmete, Namajunas was reportedly quite rattled from the UFC charter bus incident.
Speaking on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, Namajunas’ head coach Trevor Wittman revealed that the UFC champion still has trouble leaving her house because of the incident. Wittman then explained that Namajunas has an abusive past and that the incident potentially emotionally triggered the UFC champion.
