UFC megastar Conor McGregor is now set to throw down with undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. The two world-class mixed martial artists recently sat down for an intense press conference in promotion for the match up. During the event, “Notorious” decided to give his opponent a history lesson.
McGregor and Nurmagomedov will fight for the title in the main event of UFC 229. The live pay-per-view event is scheduled to go down on Oct. 6 in Las Vegas, Nev.
Speaking at the recent UFC 229 press conference, Conor McGregor dished out some trash-talk to his opponent by bringing up his own Irish roots.
“They [Chechens] were chased from their lands to the edge of cliffs.” McGregor said. “My family, my bloodline, the McGregor clan, we stood and we fought, we fought the English Empire… So much so that our name was banished for 100 years by King James at the time…”
