Valentina Shevchenko was initially locked in to challenge UFC women’s flyweight champion Nicco Montano for her title this weekend. However, the fight has since been cancelled. Now a video of Shevchenko having predicted that the title holder would pull out of the match up has surfaced on the internet.
Montano and Shevchenko were initially set to face off in the co-main event of UFC 228. The live pay-per-view event will take place this Saturday, Sept. 8.
Nicco Montano, however, was hospitalized on Friday after suffering kidney issues during her weight cut. As a result, the champion’s upcoming title fight co-main event has been cancelled on just a day’s notice.
Speaking to MMA Weekly in a former interview days ago, Valentina Shevchenko revealed that she believed it was possible Niccom Montano could pull out of their fight.
“I will be ready for this date and I hope, Nicco, she will follow her word and will show up in the octagon and we will fight. Because how I say every time… before she will be inside of the octagon, I can not believe she will do it.”
Shevchenko was then asked point blank if she believes that Nicco Montano could potentially pull out of their match up. “Bullet” responded by claiming that anything is possible.
