Khabib Nurmagomedov submitted Conor McGregor at UFC 229 on Saturday, Oct. 6. After the fight, the reigning UFC lightweight champion leaped out of the octagon and attacked McGregor’s teammate Dillon Danis.
Some of Nurmagomedov’s teammates quickly leaped into the octagon and began attacking Conor McGregor. Footage has since been going around revealing “Notorious” exchanging in the cage, leaving some to speculate that the Ireland native threw the first punch with those that entered the octagon.
Speaking to MMA Fighting, former UFC fighter turned Bellator heavyweight Chael Sonnen has now come forward with his thoughts on the fracas and those that claim Conor McGregor threw the first punch.
“First off, they can shove it up there ass. That whole things was created by some wimp somewhere about the other guy has to throw the first punch. If you are engaging me aggressively and I let you within arms reach, I am a sucker if I allow you to throw the first punch.”
