Khabib, while relatively popular in his own right, was not a draw, was not an international star, and was not a household name.
That all changed on Saturday night. With his dominant fourth round victory, and subsequent assault on team McGregor, Khabib is now a bonafide mega-star.
We know this because it’s all in the numbers, and social media is a powerful tool to gauge one’s popularity.
After his win over Conor McGregor, Khabib’s Instagram grew rapidly by 100’s of thousands of followers per hour. And while this increase is still climbing, he’s presently resting at 11.3 Million. It’s a massive jump that places him just 200k shy of Ronda Rousey.
