Undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov leaped out of the octagon after submitting Conor McGregor back at UFC 229. The fighter then attacked one of McGregor’s teammates and sparked a massive brawl among the opposing fight camps.
American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) teammate to Khabib Nurmagomedov and reigning two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier was cage side for UFC 229 in support of the Dagestan native. Cormier even helped calm the post-fight brawl by speaking to Nurmagomedov.
That being said, speaking at the recent UFC 230 media day, Daniel Cormier revealed that even he was nearly jumped by Khabib Nurmagomedov’s loyal teammates one time during practice.
“One time I did something, I hurt his neck at practice and they were about to kick my ass, seriously. They all started standing up and they were kinda surrounding me.”
“Those guys don’t play around, man. They actually got up. I was like, ‘Hey man, don’t ever come here and try to jump me.’ It’s my gym. But, they don’t mess around, man. Khabib does not play around and he is honestly the crown jewel of that circle.”
