Undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov submitted Conor McGregor within the main event of UFC 229 on Oct. 6. Since then, the reigning title holder has gone on to call out undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. to a bout inside the squared circle.
However, it would appear that the potential boxing match is far from reaching negotiations. UFC President Dana White recently spoke to ESPN. During the interview, White revealed that he has not been spoken to by anyone in Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s team about the possible match up.
“Don’t pay attention to it. First of all, the Mayweather team has not approached us at all. Khabib is under contract with the UFC; we haven’t talked to anybody from the Mayweather team. Floyd is very good at getting his name back out there when he’s ready to.”
