Report: Khabib Nurmagomedov Was Experiencing Seizures During His UFC 229 Weight Cut, Still Fought Anyways

Undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov earned a stunning victory last weekend. However, it would appear that the reigning champion was suffered serious medical issues during his weight cut leading up to the match up.

Khabib Nurmagomedov faced off against mixed martial arts superstar and former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 229 on Saturday, Oct. 6. Nurmagomedov largely put on a dominant performance during the live pay-per-view match up, which would go on to break the UFC’s PPV record with a massive 2.4 million reported sales.

In the end, the Dagestan native earned a submission victory over “Notorious” within the fourth round. Now news source MMA Team Dagestan has come forward to report that Khabib Nurmagomedov was allegedly having seizures just days before the fight.

Nurmagomedov has infamously had issues with his weight cuts in the past, having previously had to even be rushed to the hospital for weight management issues. Now it would appear that the Dagestan native was suffering medical issues yet again in the lead up to UFC 229. Never the less, the reigning UFC lightweight champion put on a dominant performance for fight fans around the world on Oct. 6.

“Two days before the fight with Conor @TeamKhabib was experiencing seizures. – he stated this in an interview on the first state channel now. Khabib did not want to talk about it.. In the event of a defeat, everyone would take that as an excuse.”
