Threats To Conor’s Life, A Gunman At The T-Mobile Arena, UFC 229 Nearly Cancelled, McGregor Fought Anyway — Report

UFC megastar Conor McGregor suffered a tough loss over the weekend. However, it would appear that there may have been more going on than initially believed backstage before the big match up.

Conor McGregor faced off against undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov for the main event of UFC 229 on Saturday, Oct. 6. Nurmagomedov put on a dominant performance over his opponent, ultimately earning a fourth round submission victory.

Speaking on the Anik and Florian podcast, UFC commentator Jon Anik referenced that there were “rumblings” of something going on backstage concerning Conor McGregor before UFC 229’s big main event. While Kenny Florian and Jon Anik did not reveal that happened backstage, Kenny Florian revealed that he would have likely changed his bet to being against Conor McGregor after learning about the undisclosed incident.

There have also been rumblings that Khabib Nurmagomedov’s teammate Islam makhachev was seen allegedly making finger guns at Conor McGregor hours before the fight. A yet unidentified individual was later allegedly arrested for having a firearm within the arena. The incident is rumored to have nearly caused the entire UFC 229 event to be cancelled due to safety concerns.

Despite these rumors, Conor McGregor went on to compete within the night’s headliner. Of course, the Ireland native ultimately suffered a loss.
