The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) traded former UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson to ONE Championship. Now it would appear that the promotion is doing away with the entire 125 pound division.
UFC News
As first reported by Combate, the UFC is currently looking to do away with the entire flyweight division by 2019. FloCombat later doubled down on the reports, claiming that most of the promotion’s flyweight competitors are being cut from the roster rather than offered an opportunity to fight in the bantamweight division.
Now UFC flyweight Jose Torres has come forward to claim that he has been cut from the UFC roster following the recent news. Check it out below.
“Im the 1st to be let go. I didnt get to finish my UFC contract with 2 fights left because they are cutting most of my division n not giving some of us a chance to bump up n prove ourselves like myself. So now it’s time to move on to bigger and better things. Good luck small guys!”
