The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was in Las Vegas, Nev. on Saturday night, March 3, for the promotion’s latest fight card. During the night of fights, middleweights Hector Lombard suffered a controversial loss to C.B. Dollaway after stunning the fighter with a late strike. Now Lombard has come forward with a statement on the matter.
Hector Lombard and C.B. Dollaway entered a brawl at the end of the round during their UFC 222 war. After the sound of the round ending bell, Lombard landed a powerful hand to the face of his opponent.
Dollaway collapsed to the canvas, stunned from the strike. The referee called a stop to the contest following the blow.
Lombard suffered a loss to Dollaway by way of disqualification. Speaking to reporters after the fight, Lombard offered his opinion on the controversial loss.
When asked if he believed Dollaway was truly injured from the strike, Lombard stated:
“I don’t think he wanted to continue. I mean, we’re fighters. I’ve been in that situation before and you just get up and continue the fight.”
