Boxing phenom Canelo Alvarez has been making headlines as of late for being suspended after failing a drug test. Now UFC President Dana White has come forward with his thoughts on the matter.
Canelo Alvarez and boxing champion Gennady Golovkin first met inside the squared circle back in 2017. The fight ultimately ended in a highly controversial draw, leaving many boxing fans hungry for a rematch.
The two pugilist phenoms were then set to face off for a rematch on May 5 inside the same T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. Since then, the rematch has been thrown into question.
Canelo Alvarez has been temporarily suspended after failing a drug test, which Alvarez claims was caused by contaminated meats. The fighter will soon appear before the commission to make his case. It has since been reported that ticket refunds are being considered.
Speaking to TMZ, Dana White offered his thoughts on the matter.
“I think people are still going to go to the fights. If I had a ticket, I wouldn’t refund it.”
When asked about the possibility of the fight still happening, White added:
“Yeah, I think it will. There is too much money involved.”
