UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell has not competed inside the octagon for nearly eight years. However, the 48-year-old mixed martial arts veteran has officially come out of retirement.
As previously reported, “The Iceman” is targeting a trilogy rematch against fellow former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz. Liddell also boasted an interest in challenging former title holder Jon Jones.
With that in mind, California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) Executive Director Andy Foster has come forward to discuss the possibility of licensing Chuck Liddell to compete. Speaking to MMA Junkie, Foster stated that the former champion will be granted a license if he can pass his advanced medical examinations.
“If Chuck passes his medicals – his advanced medicals … I will administratively grant him a license.”
“It would obviously depend on the opponent,” Foster later continued. “I don’t want to comment on who the opponent is. You’re the reporter, and you know dang well who it is. But his ability to license is different from his ability to compete, and his ability to compete would depend on who the opponent is.”
