The world’s most famous mixed martial arts promotion has officially announced its big debut in Russia. However, it would appear that the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) plans on making its big debut in Russia without the draw of Dagestan native and lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
“The Eagle” is riding a title earning unanimous decision victory over Al Iaquinta from UFC 223. Nurmagomedov has since revealed that he plans on taking several months off from the promotion, as the fighter is looking for a short break.
In the meantime, the UFC has announced that the promotion will officially be heading to Russia on Sept. 15. With Nurmagomedov seemingly out for the rest of the year, it would appear that the UFC has no plans to include “The Eagle” in their big Russia debut.
