UFC lightweight Michael Chiesa announced that he plans to move up to the welterweight division following his recent missed weight. That being said, the mixed martial artist has officially locked down a catchweight bout for the weekend.
Michael Chiesa and former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis were initially set to throw down in a lightweight match up on the highly anticipated fight card of UFC 226. The live pay-per-view event will take place this Saturday, July 7, from within the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
The official weigh-ins for the event recently took place, with Chiesa ultimately missing weight. As reported by MMA Fighting, Anthony Pettis has since accepted a catchweight match up against Chiesa for a grand total of 30 percent of Chiesa’s fight purse.
