Former UFC heavyweight title challenger Francis Ngannou suffered another devastating loss over the weekend. Now UFC President Dana White has come forward with a few words on the matter.
Francis Ngannou faced off against Derrick Lewis in the co-main event of UFC 226 on Saturday, July 7. The two mixed martial artists ultimately went the distance after reportedly throwing less than 30 strikes in total for the entire 15 minute fight.
The match was largely met with boos from the arena crowd, as the match was significantly uneventful. Derrick Lewis was ultimately granted a unanimous decision victory, which the fighter reluctantly accepted.
Speaking at the UFC 226 Post-Fight Press Conference, UFC President Dana White revealed what he believes caused Francis Ngannou to fight so timidly in his latest octagon performance.
“I think his ego ran away with him big-time. I can tell you that his ego ran away from him. I had some personal encounters with him, as did some others in the organization, and I can tell you his ego was out of control.”
