Former UFC light heavyweight title challenger Volkan Oezdemir made headlines for being arrested back in Nov. for allegedly having knocked out a fellow bar patron in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. That being said, it would appear that the mixed martial artist’s charges have been dropped.
Oezdemire’s third degree felony battery case was dropped on Monday, as reported by MMA Fighting. The case was ruled nolle prosequi, as the prosecution no longer intended to pursue the charges. The alleged victim’s lack of cooperation lead to the court decision.
Volkan Oezdemir is now set to face off against fellow former title challenger Alexander Gustafsson on the highly anticipated fight card of UFC 227. The live pay-per-view event will take place Aug. 4 from within the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif.
