UFC superstar Conor McGregor is now set to make his big octagon return. With that in mind, a new report claims that “Notorious” has been granted more than just another fight within the UFC.
McGregor has previously stated that he wishes to be a co-promoter of the UFC, if he makes an octagon return. Now the Ireland native is set to challenge undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov for his title in the main event of UFC 229.
The fight will take place from within the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. on Oct. 6. The event will be featured live on pay-per-view.
Since then, UFC President Dana White has claimed that Conor McGregor has not been made a co-promoter or granted any equity within the company as part of the negotiations for his big octagon return. However, Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer stated otherwise on a recent live edition of the program.
“It’s signed.” Meltzer said. “And Conor got a sweet deal; he’s a co-promoter, or he’s got points in the promotion, so he got what he wanted.” It would appear that, according to the reporter, Conor McGregor was indeed granted some equity within the company after all.
