UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov was largely quiet during the recent UFC 229 press conference in New York. That being said, it would appear that the Dagestan native may have largely been following his head coach’s instructions.
Nurmagomedov is set to fight Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 229 on Oct. 6, live on pay-per-view. AKA head coach Javier Mendez recently decided to tell Nurmagomedov to keep his cool during the press conference at all costs.
“Whoever gets the other angry wins. No matter what he does, don’t let him get to you. You understand? Stay nice and relaxed. Expect everything from him. Don’t give him nothing. It’s very important that you beat him. Right now you’re winning. So, stay there. Understand?
“No matter what he does, no matter what he says, don’t let him win. Don’t let him win. He gets you angry, he wins.”
