It would appear that UFC President Dana White has a new favorite prospect.
UFC strawweight Cynthia Calvillo in currently undefeated in her MMA career, with a record of 5-0. The fighter even managed to snag a pay-per-view appearance in only her second bout with the UFC promotion.
Calvillo faced Pearl Gonzalez at last weekend’s UFC 210, putting an end to her opponent by way of rear-naked choke.
With former bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey seemingly out of the sport for good, White is likely in need of a new main squeeze among the female MMA stars.
Before UFC 210 went down, White made an appearance on FOX to praise the rising star. White said,
“On this card in Buffalo this weekend. There’s a girl, she’s from Team Alpha Male, and her name is Cynthia Calvillo. She fought on the ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson-Woodley Card. I was so blown away and so impressed by her, that I’m actually already bringing her back in Buffalo taking on a girl named Pearl Gonzalez.”
During the post-fight press conference, Dana White began comparing Cynthia Calvillo to Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor. After speaking of Rousey and McGregor, White said “I fell pretty strongly about this one too.”
It would appear that White has found a new prospect star in Cynthia Calvillo.
