Invicta FC, the premiere all women’s MMA organization, has signed nine new fighters to their roster.
Whenever the UFC adds another women’s division to their roster, that usually means the UFC is going to take a large portion of that division from Invicta.
Recently, the UFC announced they will be adopting a women’s flyweight division in 2017. Instead of waiting for the UFC to take their talent, Invicta is planning in advance and has signed a plethora of new prospects.
Invicta has signed six new fighters to their flyweight division including Mara Romero Borella (10-4), Chan-Mi Jeon (5-0), Bárbara Acioly (4-0), Karina Rodríguez (4-2), Cheri Muraski (3-0) and Tracy Cortez (0-0).
“There are a lot of eyeballs on the 125-pound weight class right now,” said Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp. “We have a card coming up on May 20 that showcases some of the best flyweights in the world.
“Being able to add such a talented group of athletes to that flyweight mix will only push the entire division further. We’re expecting to see great match-ups right away, while also looking ahead to the exciting opportunities our younger prospects will have as they develop here at Invicta.”
The promotion has also signed a new prospect to their bantamweight division. Virna Jandiroba is a Brazilian fighter who holds an undefeated record of 11-0.
Invicta also added two fighters to their atomweight division, one of the few divisions the UFC has yet to adopt. Jillian DeCoursey and Ashley Medina will both make their professional debuts in Invicta. However, both fighters are accomplished as amateurs. DeCoursey has eight amateur wins, while Medina has four.
