UFC flyweight contender Ray Borg does not want former UFC Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw fighting for the title.
UFC President Dana White has recently revealed he is trying to book a fight between UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson and Dillashaw.
Dillashaw was scheduled to fight for the UFC bantamweight championship against current champion Cody Garbrandt. However, Garbrandt is suffering from a back injury and the fight has been canceled.
“What frustrates me is that if T.J. wins that belt, it’s going to be the same situation as Conor at 145 and 155,” Borg told BloodyElbow.
“That belt’s going to be held hostage. He’s not gonna be able to make 125 multiple times to defend it. I’m sure. So if he wins it at 125, he wants to do it just to be another champ. And then he moves up to 135, and then what does that do to the 125-pound division? A vacant belt that everyone’s gotta fight for again?”
Borg was next in line to receive a title fight against Johnson. The flyweight champion has recently come out and said he does not want to fight Dillashaw because he doesn’t have any fights as a flyweight. He would rather fight a top contender in his division.
