UFC heavyweight Mark Hunt hinted at his retirement from the sport following his impressive win on Saturday.
At a UFC Fight Night event in New Zealand, Hunt defeated heavyweight prospect Derrick Lewis by TKO. Lewis and Hunt fought in a back-and-forth war for over three rounds. In the fourth round, Hunt swarmed a fatigued Lewis until the referee was forced to step in and stop the fight.
During his post-fight interview, Hunt mentioned he would like to fight someone ranked above him in his next fight, but he would also be happy with his career if his win over Lewis was his last fight.
“I only got a few fights. If it ends here tonight, I’ve had a good run. But it looks like it’s still continuing,” Hunt said during his post-fight interview.
At age 43, Hunt is still one of the best heavyweights in the world. Before his win over Lewis, he was ranked No. 7 in the official UFC heavyweight rankings.
