UFC President Dana White has sent out his reaction to the tragic news of former UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Hughes being involved in an accident on Friday.
White told ESPN that Hughes was riding in a truck that had been struck by a moving train. He said Hughes had been airlifted to a local hospital facility.
“Apparently he has head trauma,” White said. “His family is traveling to him now.”
White also posted a photo of Hughes on his Instagram account. He accompanied the photo with a message that he was praying for the former UFC champion.
Hughes is a UFC Hall of Famer. He is also one of the greatest UFC champions of all time. He managed to defend his welterweight championship on seven different occasions making him one of the promotion’s most dominant champions in history.
