Former UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Hughes was involved in a car accident on Friday after the truck he was in was hit by a moving train.
UFC President Dana White told ESPN that Hughes had been airlifted to a local hospital facility.
“Apparently he has head trauma,” White said. “His family is traveling to him now.”
Hughes, 43, is one of the greatest UFC champions of all time. He is a two-time UFC welterweight champion. He managed to defend his title on seven separate occasions during both title reigns. Hughes is a member of the UFC Hall of Fame.
