No other UFC fighters will have an opportunity to show off their boxing skills when UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor competes against Floyd “Money” Mayweather in a boxing match.
Last week, the dream boxing match was made a reality when Mayweather vs. McGregor was made official.
Since the announcement, numerous MMA fighters have called out boxers in an attempt to be on the undercard. Among those fighters was UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic who called out heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua.
Even some boxers have called out UFC fighters. Adrian Broner requested a fight with McGregor’s rival Nate Diaz.
However, Leonardo Ellerbe, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, confirmed that no MMA fighters will be competing at the event.
“Yes, we are (handling all the matchmaking), and we are going to have a phenomenal undercard. I can guarantee you that,” Ellerbe said on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour.
“This will be 100 percent pure boxers in the show.”
Mayweather vs. McGregor will take place Aug. 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
