On Friday, UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes was struck by a moving train while in a truck.
As of Tuesday, Hughes is still in a coma. Hughes’ family has been given an offer to have the former UFC champion transferred to a special brain trauma facility in Atlanta.
The offer was given to the Hughes’ family by the Triumph Over Tragedy Foundation. This charity is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to “support the family unit through biblical principles from the initial impact of a tragedy of illness.”
Reggie Jones, the founder of the organization, has offered to evaluate Hughes and get him transferred to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta according to a family member of Hughes.
Hughes is one of the greatest champions in UFC history. He is a former two-time UFC welterweight champion. He managed to defend the title on seven different occasions making him one of the most dominant champions in the history of the sport.
