“Super” Sage Northcutt has a new opponent for his return to the UFC lightweight division.
Northcutt was originally scheduled to fight Claudio Puelles. However, Puelles has suffered an injury and can no longer compete.
Replacing Puelles to fight Northcutt will be UFC veteran John Makdessi.
Makdessi is coming off a knockout loss to Lando Vannata back in December. Overall, Makdesi has seven UFC wins. He has notable victories over Sam Stout and Darron Cruickshank.
At just 20 years old, Northcutt is one of the biggest stars in the UFC. He has five fights in the promotion. In his next fight, he will be returning to 155 pounds where he is unbeaten with three UFC wins. Northcutt is currently coming off a submission loss to Mickey Gall in a welterweight fight back in December.
Northcutt will fight Makdessi at UFC 214 on July 29 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
