On Sunday, Cynthia Calvillo earned the biggest win of her MMA career.
At a UFC Fight Night in Glasgow, Scotland, Calvillo defeated strawweight contender Joanne Calderwood, who was also the hometown hero.
Calvillo and Calderwood fought in a back-and-forth battle that saw both fighters shine throughout the fight.
Calderwood appeared to have the advantage when it came to striking, but Calvillo came close to finishing the fight on two separate occasions.
At the end of the first and final round, Calvillo locked on a submission in the final seconds but ran out of time before she could finish.

Calvillo is one of the top prospects coming out of Team Alpha Male. She is one of the most active fighters in the sport. In 2017, she has already earned four victories with her last three wins being in the UFC.
