Former UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman may have lied during a recent interview regarding his ties to Ramzan Kadyrov.
Kadyrov has been under fire as of late due to his ideologies. When he’s not being the leader of Chechnya, he runs his own MMA promotion. In the past, Kadyrov has brought in UFC fighters to appear at his events including Weidman.
During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, Weidman claims that he has no ties to the Chechen Republic and thought he was just visiting Russia to do a seminar when he went to Chechnya.
However, photos have emerged from Weidman’s visit and it appears he may have been lying about not having ties to Kadyrov.
Last Saturday, Weidman ended a three-fight losing streak in the UFC with a submission win over Kelvin Gastelum.
After his win in New York, Weidman is once again one of the top contenders in the UFC 185-pound division.
