Billionaire casino owners Gavin and Joe Maloof have bet almost $1 million on Floyd “Money” Mayweather defeating UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor.
The Maloof brothers, who once owned the Sacramento Kings NBA team, bet $880,000 on Mayweather winning after Gavin attended a Mayweather workout in Las Vegas.
“So I called my brother, Joe, and said, ‘We should put a wager on Floyd, because I don’t think he’s going to lose,'” Gavin told ABC News. “Not to take anything away from Conor. He’s good. But I just like Floyd a lot.”
If Mayweather wins, the Maloof brothers will win $160,000. The brothers say they will donate their winnings to charity.
“It should be a great event for everybody,” Gavin said. “We’ll be able to do a lot of good things.”
According to ABC, 95 percent of bets made for the Mayweather vs. McGregor fight have been on McGregor pulling off the upset. However, 85 percent of the money wagered has been on Mayweather being victorious.
Mayweather vs. McGregor will take place Aug. 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
