With UFC champion Conor McGregor set to make his boxing debut against undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr., many other fighters have begun considering their worth in a cross-promotional match up. Now, it would appear that a reigning boxing champion would not mind the challenge.
In a recent interview with BBC, WBA and IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua explained that he would be willing to fight in a mixed rules match up.
“I like fighting, I’d do whatever. I’d probably get beaten.
“The only thing that they can’t do is submissions but they can kick, elbow, bite – whatever they want.” Joshua explained.
“I can’t beat a guy [via submission]. That takes a lot of time to learn the skills and submissions, which I don’t have the time for, but when it comes to pure aggression and fighting rules, I can definitely fight, so I don’t mind that.
“It wouldn’t be a problem.” He concluded.
