Legendary boxing referee Joe Cortez believes UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor has a lot of chances to defeat Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
Cortez has been training with McGregor to ensure that he understands all the rules of boxing. McGregor will be fighting in his first boxing match as a professional when he steps into the ring with Mayweather.
In a recent interview, Cortez said McGregor has numerous advantages in his upcoming fight and could pull off the upset.
“McGregor has a lot of chances,” Cortez said. “I give him a lot of chances to win because the age is on his side. I believe that the awkwardness that he has will be to his advantage because there is nothing illegal about what he is doing.”
Cortez went on to say that McGregor is a good person and has become of good friend of his. He also said he hopes McGregor is victorious this weekend.
Mayweather vs. McGregor will take place Aug. 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
