The highly anticipated boxing match between Floyd “Money” Mayweather and UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor took place on Saturday night.
Before one of the biggest fights in combat sports history took place, the undercard was filled with exciting boxing matchups.
The WBA Light Heavyweight Championship was on the line when Mayweather’s teammate Badou Jack fought champion Nathan Cleverly.
Round 1
Cleverly came out swinging to start the fight. Cleverly landed multiple strikes before Jack was able to land punches of his own. Jack began to unload on the body. Both fighters then began to trade punches to the head. Both fighters traded shots to end the round.
Round 2
Jack was the first to land offense in the round. Cleverly responded by pushing forward. Cleverly later landed clean combinations of punches to the head. Jack then landed punches to Cleverly’s jaw. The round ended with Jack and Cleverly trading combinations.
Round 3
Cleverly threw the first shot of the round, but Jack responded by throwing multiple quick punches. Cleverly pushed forward, but Jack has no issues landing shots while moving backward. The round ended with both fighters trading jabs in the center of the ring.
Round 4
Jack attacked the body, while Cleverly attacked the head to start the fourth round. As the round went on, Jack began to land shots at will. Whether it was to the head or body, all of Jack’s strikes were landing. Jack landed multiple blows to the face and managed to bust Cleverly open.
Round 5
Jack picked Cleverly apart right at the start of the round. As the round went on, Jack didn’t let up. Against the ropes, Jack hit Cleverly’s head at will. Eventually, the referee stepped in and stopped the fight.
