Boxing champion Canelo Alvarez has sent a message to UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor telling him Floyd “Money” Mayweather did not fight like a Mexican.
On Saturday, McGregor fought Mayweather in his professional boxing debut. McGregor looked good early in the fight and won some of the early rounds, but in the end, Mayweather defeated McGregor in the 10th round by TKO.
After the fight, McGregor said he made Mayweather fight like a Mexican during his post-fight interview.
Alvarez was asked about McGregor comments during a recent interview and said whether or not he thought Mayweather fought like a Mexican.
“No, not at all,” Alvarez said. “Mayweather did what he wanted to. He knew he could go forward because he can finish it at any moment that he wanted to. And I want to be clear, Mexican style is not one style. Mexican style has many styles of boxing.”
