According to UFC President Dana White, last weekend’s historic fight between Floyd “Money” Mayweather and UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor has shattered pay-per-view records.
On a video that was recorded while on the set of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, White revealed that the pay-per-view had 6.5 million buys.
If these numbers are correct, the Mayweather vs. McGregor pay-per-view outsold Mayweather’s fight against Manny Pacquiao by approximately 2 million buys.
It was expected that Mayweather vs. McGregor may break the pay-per-view record, but no one expected it to completely shatter the record set by Mayweather vs. Pacquiao.
Mayweather went on to defeat McGregor in their fight. In the 10th round, Mayweather earned a TKO victory after the referee stepped in and stopped the fight. With this win, Mayweather’s boxing record increased to 50-0.
In the video above, you can listen to White talk to Snoop Dogg and Urijah Faber about the Mayweather vs. McGregor pay-per-view numbers.
