Last year, former UFC bantamweight champion Miesha Tate was gearing up to face off against Amanda Nunes for UFC 200. After a rough weight cut, Miesha Tate ultimately made weight.
After the fighter made weight, UFC President Dana White was elated with excitement. In response, the president decided to give Miesha Tate a peck on the cheek. The odd UFC moment may be viewed in the video above.
Tate would go on to lose against Amanda Nunes by way of first round submission and Dana White was shocked when she suddenly announced her retirement from the sport.
“I didn’t see the Miesha Tate thing coming, but you know, it makes sense,” UFC President Dana White said at the UFC 205 post-fight press conference. “Miesha’s been so tough and durable, and not a tough, durable woman, but a tough, durable athlete. She’s been in this for so long, and I could just tell when I talked to her tonight.”
