Owen Roddy, the striking coach for UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor, wants to see McGregor fight Nate Diaz in his next fight.
On Tuesday, Roddy appeared on The MMA Hour and said he would like to see a trilogy fight between Diaz and McGregor. However, he thinks McGregor would have to fight whoever wins the interim title fight between Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee instead.
“I’d like to see Diaz three,” Roddy said. “Obviously, you’ve got Ferguson and Lee fighting for the interim belt. If he were to fight MMA again, it would probably have to be the winner of that.”
Roddy went on to say that the reason he wants to see McGregor fight Diaz again is because of how entertaining their first two fights were.
“The reason I say Diaz is because the fights are so exciting, the build up to the fights. There’s nothing like it,” Roddy said.
“The two camps leading up to the Diaz fights were the most exciting camps I’ve been apart of.”
Roddy went on to say he doesn’t know what’s next for McGregor. But if his next fight is in the UFC, he wants it to be against Diaz.
“I don’t know what’s next,” Roddy said. “If I picked MMA, I’d pick the Diaz fight. I’d like to see the Diaz fight.”
