UFC lightweight contender Kevin Lee had a passionate response after hearing the news of UFC 215’s main event cancellation.
Less than two days before UFC 215, Ray Borg was forced to withdraw from his title fight with UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson due to illness.
On Friday, Lee reacted to the news by sending a message towards the UFC.
“Get rid of the fucking weight cut (UFC)!,” Lee wrote on Twitter. “Guys are getting sick and ruining business. Add weight classes. Why are we waiting for someone to die.”
With Borg being forced to withdraw from his fight, UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes will defend her title against Valentina Shevchenko in the UFC 215 main event. The event will take place Saturday, September 9 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Lee is currently scheduled to compete in his first title fight in the UFC. On Oct. 7, Lee will fight fellow lightweight contender Tony Ferguson for an interim title in the main event of UFC 216 in Las Vegas.
