Former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen says UFC President Dana White lied about the success of last month’s boxing match between UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor and Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
On a recent episode of his podcast, Sonnen said he was confused as to why White would lie about the gate and pay-per-view numbers for Mayweather vs. McGregor.
The Mayweather vs. McGregor fight did well when it comes to both the live gate and pay-per-view numbers, but it didn’t do as well as White said right after the fight. For example, White claimed that the pay-per-view sold over 6 million, but in reality, the fight sold less than that.
Regardless of what White said, the event was one of the most successful combat sporting events of all time, and Sonnen doesn’t understand why White needs to lie about it.
In the video below, you can listen to Sonnen discuss White’s lies and the success of Mayweather vs. McGregor.
