Gdansk, Poland hosted the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on Saturday, as the mixed martial arts promotion delivered UFC Fight Night 118 inside the Ergo Arena. In the day’s main event, undefeated Darren Till earned a dominant first round TKO victory over welterweight contender Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. While the day’s headlining match up proved to be a quick scrap, the co-main event proved to be a war.
In the day’s co-main event, strawweights Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Jodie Esquibel face off for division dominance. Kowalkiewicz was coming off of a two fight losing streak, having suffered a submission loss to Claudia Gadelha and a decision loss to reigning champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk. As a result, the strawweight was looking to get back inside the winning column and back on the road to title contention.
Esquibel and Kowalkiewicz ultimately went the distance, with Kowalkiewicz earning a unanimous decision victory over her opponent. During the post-fight interview, the strawweight was intensely emotional on her new victory inside the octagon. Speaking to media at the UFC Fight Night 118 post-fight press conference, Kowalkiewicz gave a stunning answer when asked about how she feels following the recent win.
“It was f**king awesome.” She said.
