Phil Brooks, better known as the WWE superstar CM Punk, decided to part ways with professional wrestling in favor of a budding career in mixed martial arts. After making the switch, Brooks even managed to land his professional debut under the world’s most famous mixed martial arts promotion. While the fighter suffered a devastating loss inside the octagon, it would appear that a new rumor is suggesting that the former WWE superstar has locked in another under the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) banner.
Phil Brooks made his octagon debut back at UFC 203 in 2016. The pro-wrestler turned fighter faced off against Mickey Gall for his first MMA fight, suffering a submission loss within the first round. Brooks returned to training, but never revealed another match up under the UFC promotion. That being said, news source Middle Easy has now reported a new rumor.
As reported by Middle Easy:
“Rumor is CM Punk attended UFC 218 and walked away without his next fight scheduled. Rumor has it that Punk’s second UFC fight may not happen until the second quarter of 2018.”
While Brooks may not have a fight locked in quite yet, it would appear that the former WWE superstar is set to make a UFC return next year after all.
