Rumors are spiraling out of control today that the UFC is near booking a UFC lightweight title fight between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov.
And while these remain as rumors, some credible people, including Khabib himself have put together some pieces to the puzzle, that suggest a big announcement is forthcoming.
According to Yahoo’s Kevin Iole, the UFC is sending Khabib to Boston for next week’s UFC 220 event.
If history holds true, this usually indicates that a press-conference while media is in full attendance will be held announcing what’s next for the top lightweight contender.
Iole stated,
Interesting — @TeamKhabib is going to Boston for @UFC 220, sent there by UFC. Could that mean … @TheNotoriousMMA is back? Hmmm … Something is up. I suspect we will hear about a title fight of some kind.

Adding to the intrigue, Khabib himself confirmed pretty much the same thing early this morning with his own post to Instagram.
The undefeated Russian star stated,
Big news coming. The Eagles continues to hunt.
Now, while this could mean that the UFC is planning to announce a Ferguson vs. Khabib bout, several insiders are coming forward today, in anonymity, stating that the buzz around the UFC offices is that Conor McGregor is going to return against Khabib Nurmagomedov.
There’s no way to separate fact from fiction, until someone blows the whistle entirely.
However, one thing is certain, Khabib’s got a big fight coming up.
Stay tuned.
