Bellator MMA and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) were competing for viewership over the weekend, as both mixed martial arts promotions hosted an event on Saturday. With that in mind, many UFC superstars appear to have decided to pay the latest Bellator MMA card a visit, rather than the highly anticipated UFC 220 event.
Bellator 192 went down Saturday night, Jan. 20, inside The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. The exciting fight card featured a collection of entertaining match ups.
Former UFC fighters Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Chael Sonnen threw down in a heavyweight war in the night’s main event, with Sonnen earning a unanimous decision victory over his opponent. In the co-main event, former UFC title challenger Rory MacDonald earned the Bellator welterweight title with a unanimous decision victory over Douglas Lima.
That being said, the UFC hosted UFC 220 on the same night. Inside the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts the mixed martial arts promotion provided another stacked fight card. UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic put on a dominant performance over Francis Ngannou in the night’s main event.
The co-headliner featured a light heavyweight title fight between reigning champion Daniel Cormier and Volkan Oezdemir. Cormier dominantly earned a TKO victory over the title challenger.
Despite the UFC putting two titles on the line for UFC 220, octagon superstars from Nate Diaz to Cris Cyborg decided to visit Bellator 192 over the recent UFC card. Check out a gallery of UFC fighters in attendance for the Bellator card below:
